Red Flag Art - Artist Bio
Darren Farris is a painter in Maggie Valley, NC, who makes large, richly textured oil paintings about the close details of mountains. His work is about discovering the beauty that is found through embracing change. You’ll find it sits between the close observation of Georgia O'Keeffe and textural strokes of Conrad Jon Godly.
Using oil paint and palette knife, he paints the cracks and textures of mountains that most people take for granted, scraping and building, layer after layer of thick impasto, the way the mountains reveal their beauty. He wants you to feel the textures and see the moments where the changes happen.
His paintings are the rock you want to bring home from a meaningful hike.
